Qualitative research in England into adult nursing students' experiences of caring for patients with dementia while on clinical placements in hospital, focusing on the challenges they encountered. Students' perceptions of barriers to nursing care of dementia patients were investigated, including the physical hospital environment, the organisational culture, staff attitudes and lack of training. Problems encountered with the provision of nutrition, patient mobility, communication and meeting the patients' emotional needs were assessed. 29 references.
