Nursing Times policy report discussing whether failure to rescue (FTR) rates, used as a key indicator of patient safety in USA health services, could also be used in England. The significant of FTR rates and methods of their measurement are discussed, and possible advantages and disadvantages of the method in relation to other quality indicators are considered. 6 references.
