Health Research Authority gets funding to set up a simpler UK-wide approval process

Announced in March 2014 by the UK Government, this funding will provide a single approval for research in the NHS, to incorporate assessments by NHS staff employed by the Health Research Authority (HRA); the independent Research Ethics Committee opinion; the devolved administrations and other regulatory approvals to unify the approval process for research in the UK.

Thinking differently about public involvement in research strategic review

Announced in March 2014, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is reviewing the public’s involvement in health, social care and public health research. Called Breaking Boundaries: thinking differently about public involvement in research, this strategic review will examine options for building an active collaboration with the public and making best use of their skills, knowledge and experience in NIHR’s work.

Co-authored by a former professor of nursing, a report published in March 2014 by the Health Foundation on their Learning Communities Initiative tells of the equally strong skills that organisations and individuals need to make a success of improvements to care

Learn about the fundamentals of clinical research nursing

You will gain an understanding of the management and running of clinical studies at this two-day course designed for nurses who are new to research posts or as a refresher for all clinical research nurses on:

EBCD is an approach to improving healthcare services that combines participatory and user experience design tools and processes to bring about quality improvements in healthcare organisations. Through a ‘co-design’ process the approach entails staff, patients and carers reflecting on their experiences of a service, working together to identify improvement priorities, devising and implementing changes, and then jointly reflecting on their achievements.
